Husky expands Shanghai manufacturing capacity and globally launches HyCAP PRO closure system

Husky Technologies announced an expansion of manufacturing capacity in Shanghai, China, alongside the global introduction of its HyCAP PRO injection moulding system for beverage closures during its Husky Connect Shanghai Open House, held from 13 to 16 October.

The four-day event brought together customers and partners from China and across the Asia Pacific region. It included presentations on the company’s manufacturing operations and live demonstrations of the newly introduced system.

Husky established its Shanghai Manufacturing Center of Excellence in 2004. The site now serves as its regional headquarters and a manufacturing hub supplying machines and tooling to customers in Asia Pacific and other markets.

The company said continued investment in manufacturing, engineering, service and technical capabilities at the facility is intended to increase regional capacity and improve customer response times. Husky did not specify the additional production capacity or the financial value of the investment in the announcement.

Speaking at the event, Wassim Labban, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, discussed Husky’s presence in China and its wider customer support network. Dave Morton, Executive Vice President, Business Development, said Husky systems are designed in Canada and assembled using globally sourced components, with common manufacturing processes and quality standards across its facilities.

The event also marked the worldwide launch of HyCAP PRO, developed as an extension of Husky’s existing HyCAP platform for high-output beverage closure manufacturing applications. According to the company, the new system delivers up to 45% higher productivity than the traditional HyCAP system in comparable applications.

Demonstrations featured a closure free-fall mechanism that operates independently of the mould’s opening and closing movement. Husky said this arrangement reduces non-process time, allowing shorter cycles and higher output in beverage closure production.
